This is a Glossary of terms that are used in relation to the Licensing Act 2003.
For persons who sell or authorise the sale of alcohol. This licence lasts for 10 years.
A Licence for Premises that engage in one or more of the following activities:
This licence lasts for the life of the Premises.
A Licence for a premise that has 'qualifying club' status according to a number of qualifying conditions, including the provision that there are at least 25 members and that alcohol is only supplied by or on behalf of the club.
This is a notification of the carrying-out of specified licensable activities for a restricted time period (maximum 96 hours) for an event that is not covered by a Premises Licence or Club Premises Certificate. No premises can have more than 12 TENs in any 12 month period (For events after the second appointed day when the Act comes into force).
An application by an interested party or a responsible authority to review a Premises Licence or Club Premises Certificate.

Personal Licence New Application - Application for a Personal Licence by a person who does not hold a Justices Licence prior to the Licensing Act 2003 coming into effect
Premises Licence New Application - A new application for a Premises Licence. This could be made by a Premises that does not want to convert their existing licences but wants to make a fresh application or a premises that has never held licences before.
Club Premises Cert New Application - A new application for a Premises Licence. This could be made by a Premises that does not want to convert their existing licences but wants to make a fresh application or a premises that has never held licences before
Temporary Event Notice - This is a notification of intention to carry out licensable activities for a specified time period.
Application for Review Prem/Club - An application by an interested party or a responsible authority to review a Premises Licence or Club Premises Certificate
Invalid - Application has been received but some parts of the application are missing or incorrect but not to the extent that the application has been rejected. The licensing authority consider that there is adequate information for the representation period to commence
Consultees Outstanding - Application is within the 28 day period when relevant responsible authorities or interested parties can make representation. Interested parties and all responsible authorities can make representation against applications for Premises Licence and Club Premises Certificates but only when it is for a conversion with variation or for a new application. Representation against a Personal Licence, a Temporary Event Notice or a straight forward conversion to a Premises or Club Premises Certificate can only be made by the police.

Pending Decision - The relevant interested parties and responsible authorities have made their representation or the representation period has closed and the application is waiting to be processed further
Decision Made - The decision has been made by either the officer or the hearing panel if there was representation as whether to grant the application, grant with conditions or refuse the application.
Licence Issued - The Licence has been issued to the applicant and is current
