Regeneration Through Sport is a relatively new service within Stroud District Council (SDC) (established in September 2002) which specialises in sports and health development.
The main aim of the service is to enhance and develop sport, health and physical activity across the Stroud district and is based on principles such as participation, health and well-being, club to community links, lifelong learning opportunities and development pathways from foundation to excellence level.
The team is led by the Regeneration Through Sport Manager and consists of a Healthy Lifestyles Development Officer, a Disability Development Officer, a Sports Development Officer -Programming and Play and a variety of deliverers eg: coaches, fitness instructors, volunteers
Delivery is strategically linked to SDC Corporate and Cultural objectives as well as regional and national plans for sport and health development and is thus based on a number of key project areas such as :-

Officers work very closely with SDC facilities Team and a host of networks from local through to national level eg: clubs, individuals, parish and town councils, community groups, the Youth Services, other Local Authorities, County Council, Active Gloucestershire, School Sports Co-ordinators, Primary Care Trust, English Federation Of Disability Sport, Sport England and National Governing Bodies of sport.

Getting advice when applying for grants
Stroud District Council's Regeneration Through Sport Manager can assist and offer advice with revenue and capital grant applications, from National Lottery funding and a variety of other agencies.
