Stroud District Primary Schools 6-a-side Football Tournament Final 2005

On Friday 6 May Stratford Park Leisure Centre was the venue for the final of the Stroud District Primary schools 6-a-side Football Tournament. The following mixed school teams played their way to the final, via group rounds:

  • Blue Coat
  • Chalford
  • Coaley
  • Leonard Stanley
  • Parliament
  • St.Josephs
  • Stone with Woodford
  • Uplands

All matches were played at break neck speed and show cased the many talented players that we have in the district. The final match for the trophy was between Chalford Hill and Parliament, with Parliament winning by 1 goal to nil.

In addition this year, an all girls festival took place for year 5/6 school teams hosted by Foxmoor Primary School. The top two teams - Eastington and Leonard Stanley then went forward to play their final at the above event. Leonard Stanley were the victors on penalties after an excellent and exciting match and will now go forward to represent the Stroud District at this year's Area Youth games in June.

Approximately 200 plus supporters watched closely contested games in all initial group matches and the atmosphere was electric.

Trophies

Councillors Dorcas Binns and John Hudson presented all team players with medals and footballs- complete with fire engines and a false alarm being set off half way through. Nigel Studdert-Kennedy was also in attendance.

This event is sponsored and supported by SDC Community Services, Leisure Services and Valley and Vales Neighbourhood Watch. SDC Sports Development and the County Sports Partnership worked in partnership to sponsor and link in the all girls event.
