Stratford Park Ground Maintenance

The maintenance of the Stratford Park grounds is based on an environmentally sound management system and the use of all chemicals is kept to a minimum.

  • The grounds of Stratford Park cover 56 acres.
  • There are 170,000m2 of grass and 4,000m2 of shrub and flower border areas to be maintained.
  • There are more than 800 trees in the park.
  • The bowling green was constructed in 1936.

It takes 4 full time employees to maintain the park and prepare all the sports facilities.The employees are equipped with tractors, ride-on mowers, strimmers and specialist equipment to maintain the fine turf sports areas.

Caring for the environment

  • All the green waste produced in the park is shredded and reused as a mulch on the shurb borders.
  • The majority of seats and bins provided in the park are made from recycled waste plastic material.
  • Each year, over 30 new trees are planted in the park to provide for future generations.
  • Chemical weed control has been greatly reduced as a result of increased manual sweeping ofpaths and hardstanding areas.
