Stroud District Council

Area Youth Games Sports Day

On Friday 17 June 2005 children from St Roses School and the Shrubberies joined many other participants from across Gloucestershire in the Area Youth Games 2005 being held at Oxstalls Tennis Centre. The games were organised by Gloucestershire Sports Partnership.

The day offered opportunities to participate in tennis, tag rugby, football, hockey, table cricket, boccia, kurling and many others. The games allowed the children to try some new sports and also enjoy the sunny weather while listening to Severn Sound who attended to event. All participants received a medal and certificate for taking part.

Hannah McLeod, Community Disability Development Officer for Stroud said

'It was fantastic to see all the children having so much fun and having the opportunity to try a variety of sports which they might not have had the opportunity before. It opened my eyes up to the possibilities of how successful Stroud Ability Sports Club could be and the valuable service it is offering to the district.'
