Changes to the Personal Search service

Please note following the introduction of The Local Land Charges (Amendment) Rules 2010: No.1812, this Council will no longer charge the personal search fees (currently £22.00) for inspection of the Local Land Charges Register from 17th August 2010.

In the future data supplied to personal searchers or their agents will include data/information that has not been "cleansed". It will be for the personal searchers or their agents to copy whatever data they deem necessary to complete their search. Requests for access to the data should be emailed to: locallandcharges@stroud.gov.uk and an appointment for inspection will be made within 20 working days. Data will be provided for inspection at the Council office (Ebley Mill, Westward Road, Stroud.)

The Council does not intend to give any refunds for Personal Search fees paid prior to the 17th August 2010. Stroud District Council would direct anyone who wishes to make a claim for refund to the Ministry of Justice in the first instance.  Since January 2005, Local Land Charges collected a statutory fee as instructed by and in accordance with legislation issued by Central Government and as such any issues pertaining to a refund of these fees is a matter for Central Government to decide.

Stroud District Council also offer an official certificate of search of the Local Land Charges register (form LLC1), and this is covered by the Council’s Insurance. Requests for this service should be sent to Local Land Charges, Stroud District Council, Ebley Mill, Westward Road, Stroud. GL5 4UB, or via the National Land Information Service (NLIS).  The cost of this service is £25.00 per property.

Our aim is to complete your search within 10 working days.

Inevitably delays are possible during peak periods and holidays. Please bear with us and we will do our best to deal with your request.

We would recommend that searches are submitted at the earliest opportunity.

Please note: In order to reduce our search turnaround time, all searches submitted from 10th May 2010 onwards will be dealt with in a revised manner. Planning history will only be revealed from 1st April 2000. Where the search site is either wholly or partly covered by a Listed Building curtilage, planning history will be revealed from 1st April 1990.
