What made you apply for the position?

The fact that the role involved dealing with the public, but had no selling attached. The hours were also compatible with my family.

Outline your typical working day:

Firstly I check on the rota to see what job I am doing within the team for the day. After this I organise myself at the desk I will be working at. This could be switchboard, reception, refuse etc. The work involves listening to customer requests/needs and depending on the nature of the request, dealing with it there and then or directing them to another member of the council who has the knowledge to deal with their enquiry. The key to the role is knowing where to find the answer/who to speak to. Very little work is left for pending.

The variety, the team I work with and the ongoing learning involved within the role.
