Teenage Pregnancy Strategy
In 1999, the government's social exclusion unit published a national teenage pregnancy report, setting out a ten-year programme to address social exclusion and isolation faced by many teenage parents. Regional issues were also addressed in a teenage pregnancy strategy for Gloucestershire.
From 2003, all lone parents under the age of 18 are no longer be given an unsupported independent council or housing association tenancy.
The local authorities in Gloucestershire wanted to establish the local housing and support needs of teenage parents, with particular emphasis on the rural districts including Stroud. Specific research was commissioned and the report is available to download below.
