Olympic Celebration

Gold Medal Celebration - Saturday 15th September

Peter Reed, our district’s Olympic Gold Medal winning rower is being honoured for his success as part of Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Pete now has two Olympic gold medals as well as three silver medals in the World Championships.

To celebrate his achievement, an open-top bus tour has been organised between Stroud and his home town of Nailsworth on Saturday 15th September. So come out and line the streets!

Where can I see it?

Following a reception hosted by Stroud District Council, expect to see Pete on the balcony of the Stroud Subscription Rooms just after midday and then on the forecourt in front of the building. He’ll board the open-top bus at 12.45 and it will then make it’s way down Russell Street, Rowcroft and onto Bath Road (A46) on it’s way to Nailsworth for around 1.15pm.

The bus will then do a circuit along Market Street, Old Market and back onto Fountain Street before making its way to Nailsworth Town Hall at 1.45pm where a barbecue will be held for the local community.

Forest Green Rovers

If you’re a Rovers fan, Pete will be making an appearance on the pitch at half-time and will be staying to watch the second half of the game against Alfreton Town.
