Kimbers Men
Kimber’s Men are probably Great Britain’s finest purveyors of sea songs and shanties. Playing a selection of instruments and singing traditional and contemporary songs, their harmonies are superb. Performing at an impressive list of sea and folk festivals from Ireland to Denmark, audiences have raved over Kimber’s Men. Formed in the summer of 2001, they now comprise Dave Buckley (ship’s Captain); Gareth Scott (Powder Monkey) and founding members, the ship’s cook, doctor and bosun who are best left nameless. Recently featured in the BBC4TV production of ‘Sea Songs’, they have five CD’s on release some of which can be found in all the best garden centres and gift shop’s of Kent and Essex; not to mention your local Tesco supermarket.
