Food Safety

Below are the Council's statutory responsibilities relating to the enforcement of food safety at commercial premises.

There is growing public concern about the quality and safety of food. A major area of concern relates to food poisoning. This can occur as a result of eating out or at home. Poisoning is normally the result of poor handling, lack of cleanliness and inadequate temperature controls.

Stroud District Council works hard to protect the public from the risk of food poisoning through education and enforcement. A risk based inspection programme for commercial food premises is carried out each year.
