Our main purpose is to safeguard and improve public health and safety within the District. We do this by providing a wide range of services which are summarised here.
Some of these services are statutory in nature and involve enforcing legislation, some are advisory and others provide direct services such as financial help with providing special facilities for disabled people in their homes, collecting refuse, street cleaning and collecting stray dogs.
