Parish Council duties and responsibilities cover many areas. This list of the parishes in the Stroud District Council area includes contact details for all parishes.
The District Council is responsible for the conduct of, and arrangements for, elections to the 49 Parishes in the administrative area. Parish Councillors serve for 4 years with elections held by thirds concurrently with a third of the District Council elections for the area.
Any vacancies arising outside this timetable are filled either through a by-election or by co-option. If a vacancy arises a notice is displayed for 14 working days (not including weekends and Bank Holidays) and the District Council notified. An election is held if 10 electors from within the Parish or Ward in question make a written request to the Returning Officer at Ebley Mill. If no election is requested, the Parish may fill the vacancy by co-option.
Further details may be obtained either from your Parish Clerk or from the national association.
