What can the Strategic OSC do?

This Committee can:

• Undertake reviews and topics of enquiry of a broad strategic nature that reflects the concerns of the public, Council Members and the Council as a whole.
• Identify and review matters that are likely to be of public interest and to respond to the needs of the local community by engaging with the Public, Parish Councils, Ward Councillors and other Community Bodies.
• Promote the scope and work of the Committee in a way that will encourage both Council and public involvement.
• Measure annually the effectiveness of the Committee and its value to the work of the Council in light of what has been achieved and the measurable outcomes.
• Call in for review any resolution passed by the Cabinet that the Chair or Vice-Chair, or five Councillors of the Committee consider relevant to the activities of the Committee.
