What can the Performance and Audit OSC do?

Consider the budget proposals of the Cabinet.
Focus on all aspects of Performance Management, including delivery of the Corporate Delivery Plan and the Forward Plan.
Receive and consider reports about our audit responsibilities and functions and those of the external auditor, the Audit Commission and other bodies making reports or recommendations to us.
Focus on the arrangements for preventing and detecting fraud and corruption.
Oversee service reviews; monitor and validate both the process and the outcomes and provide challenge where appropriate.
Measure annually the effectiveness of the committee and its value to the work of the Council in light of what has been achieved and the measurable outcomes.
Focus on arrangements for procurement.
Consider the effectiveness of the authority’s risk management arrangements in accordance with CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy) guidelines and seek assurances that action is being taken on risk related issues.
Approve the Audit Strategy detailing the delivery and development of Internal Audit.
Call in for review any resolution passed by the Cabinet which the Chair or Vice-Chair, or five Councillors of the Committee consider relevant to the activities of the Committee.
