Stroud District Council invited all of the Town and Parish Councils in the District to submit a short piece describing their villages.

Village of the Year 2008

If you’re particularly proud of your village and want to celebrate all that it has to offer, then why not consider entering the 2008 Calor Gloucestershire Village of the Year competition?

This year’s launch took place today at Chedworth, who were the overall winners in 2007. Entries are invited from any village with a population of less than 5,000 and a parish council or meeting. Villages will be judged on up to eight categories, namely Community Life, Business, Young People, Older People, the Environment, Information & Communication Technology (ICT), Healthy village and Safer village with prize money totalling £4,500. The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony held at Highnam Court, Highnam, nr Gloucester on Friday 18th July 2008.
