The 7 Gloucestershire Councils have committed themselves, within the Gloucestershire Local Area Agreement, to achieve Level 3 by the end of 2011/12.
To achieve the target the partners have put together a programme of collective activities that will help each individual organisation embed the management of climate risks over time. The programme has been designed so that as many senior managers, key professionals and elected members as possible in the partner organisations are enabled go through a common awareness raising programme during 2009.
The first two events were designed for the lead climate change elected member, director and officer from each of the partners.
The event was facilitated by the Climate Outreach Information Network (COIN) and explored the full range of adaptation issues in order to build a common understanding. The event pack can be downloaded below.

Presentations covered emergency and risk management, the Gloucestershire Local Climate Impact profile (LCLiP) and strategic land use planning. In advance the partners had also commissioned a review of NI188 / adaptation preparedness and this was also discussed. The consultants report and the various presentations can be downloaded below:

The Climate Change Risks and Adaptation workshop (see Event 1, January 24 2009 for details of syllabus) will form the basis of the morning session. The afternoon will be taken up with action planning with a focus on helping EPOs and RMs to understand how they can contribute to the achievement of NI 188 in the short term and in the longer term how they will ensure that adaptation continues to be a priority for their Councils.
