Now in its third year, the successful Stroud District Arts Award promotes and supports public art. It also recognises the wealth of creative work being produced locally, and its growing role in the area's vibrant economy.
To coincide with the first PhotoStroud Festival, the 2007 Arts Award was dedicated to celebrating and showcasing photography. An exhibition of work by the shortlisted entrants took place at the Museum in the Park Gallery in Stratford Park, Stroud (16 October - 27 October 2007).

The Judges were Councillor John Jeffreys, Stroud District Council, Paul Caffell, founder of 31 Studio, and Pamela Roberts, former Curator of the Royal Photographic Society. They awarded the £2,000 Commission to Reinhild Beuther, for her thought-provoking, original and experimental proposal to explore and visually document the universal human state of sleep, usually completely unobserved.

The best black and white image award went to Cyril Laffort for his striking photograph, 'Poet Jeff Cloves', which will be made into a premium Platinum Print by 31 Studio.

Reinhild Beuther's commission project will be completed by March 2008.
