Now in its third successful year, the Stroud District Arts Award aims to promote and support public art, and the extraordinary diversity and quality of the creative arts in the Stroud District. To coincide with the first PhotoStroud Festival in October, the 2007 Arts Award is dedicated to celebrating and showcasing photography, in recognition of the wealth of creative work being produced locally, and its growing role in the area's vibrant visual arts sector and economy.
The overall Award winner will receive a commission of £2,000 to produce a body of new, exciting and original work that will be exhibited and toured in the area and featured in a dedicated PhotoStroud Festival e-gallery. The intention is to permanently house the work in a public space for the continued enjoyment of the community.
In addition, the black-and-white image judged best of the show will be reproduced as a premium Platinum print, through the generous support of Festival partner and internationally-renowned printmakers, 31 Studio, based in Horsley.
The shortlisted artists' photographs and proposals for the £2000 commission were be exhibited at the Museum in the Park from 16 to 27 October 2007. This years results
