Grants and funding from Stroud District Council

Stroud District Council offers grant aid to local charities, voluntary groups, individuals and other organisations in a number of different schemes. Details are outlined below.

Stroud District Local Strategic Partnership - Community Planning Grant 2007-2008

The Stroud District Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) is keen to encourage all parishes in the Stroud District to engage in community consultation and produce a Parish Plans (or similar documents) with associated actions. The information contained within community plans can help inform the work of the Districts Community Strategy amongst other key strategic documents and help prioritise service delivery areas for various organisations. This grant scheme is offered by the Stroud District LSP using finance collected from the 'second homes' dividend. It is administered on behalf of the LSP by the Regeneration Service at Stroud District Council (SDC), with the support of the Gloucestershire Rural Community Council (GRCC).

This scheme supports groups undertaking 1. New Parish Plans & Reviews of Parish Plans (or similar work), 2. Village Design Statements or 3. Community Actions/ Projects directly resulting from any of these plans or strategies.

The scheme for 2007 has now finished. Please continue to check this page regularly for updates regarding funding opportunities.

Community Hall Energy Efficiency and Renewables Scheme (CHEERS )

Under the work of new Environment Strategy, SDC are committed to reducing CO2 emissions and saving energy within community buildings in the district. Village and community halls often need professional advise on energy efficiency matters and the consequent project works can be quite costly.

The 'CHEERS' project has been established to help community halls access this important energy advise, and under the SDC's Village Halls & Community Buildings Scheme, there is a limited amount of funding to support the implementation of energy efficiency measures, including renewable technologies if appropriate.

The closing date for this years applications has now passed however, subject to interest, we hope to run the scheme again next year. If you think your project could benefit from this scheme please let us know so that we are aware of demand. Contact Krista Harris, Regeneration Officer, on 01453 754325

For energy efficiency technical support, please contact Debbie Hewitt, Sustainable Energy Officer, on 01453 754464.

Village Hall and Community Buildings Scheme

Stroud District Council's Village Hall and Community Buildings Scheme (VH&CB Scheme) is a 4 year grants programme, operating from 04-05 financial year to 08-09. It has allocated over £400,000 of funding towards physical improvements to multi-functional community buildings, including over 20 village halls across the District.

The VHCBS grant scheme is now fully allocated for projects delivering works up to March 2009. A scheme review is currently taking place and although the scheme is not open to new applications at present, we are looking to continue our support through alternative funding chanels.

If you have a community buildings project and would like to discuss whether Stroud District Council may be able to offer support, please contact us to discuss your proposals in further detail.
