What is y-waste?
y-waste is a registered social enterprise, formed in the summer of 2006, in response to the growing concern about the amount of commercial waste that was going to landfill, and the associated spiralling costs.
Founder members Preeti Bharadia, Carole Garfield and Terry Morgan, supported by Stroud District Council and Parklife, conducted a survey of businesses in the Stroud area to help shape a commercial waste collection and recycling scheme that would fit the needs of businesses.
The scheme needed to be:
- Flexible
- Efficient
- Within the law
- Cost effective
After consultation with businesses, waste management and recycling contractors, many meetings and much hard work, the result is a scheme that offers businesses all of the above.
What can y-waste offer businesses of the Stroud district?
y-waste can offer you the opportunity to have all your business waste collected cost effectively, as often as suits your needs. All of your recyclable waste will be recycled - guaranteed!
Joining the scheme can:

- Help satisfy your Duty of Care obligations
In association with SMITHS, y-waste will collect all commercial recyclable materials (such as paper, plastic, cardboard and glass) at a specified time, as often as needed.
What do I have to do?
Easy!
- Put your recyclable waste into one bag
- Put your non-recyclable waste into another
So not only will you be taking care of the environment, you could also be taking care of your bottom line by reducing the impact of landfill tax on you!
